LASHES WITH A CAUSE
I am proudly committed to donating a portion of our training Courses & products to the Children's Fund. The Childrens fund is a non-profit organization and has been established since 1985. Their mission is to serve the children of San Bernadino County who lack some of the basic needs while being placed into the foster care system. Some of these children have come from impoverished, unhealthy, neglected and abused situations. This transition can be tough on children both emotional and mentally. Thanks to the donations and volunteers of the Childrens Fund, children are provided clothes, car seats, dental exams, therapy and many other professional services to help them through these difficult times.
So why the Childrens Fund? There are so many places to give back in the community but I choose to give back to the foster children of San Bernandino County beacuse it holds a special place in my heart. After many years of being unable to have a child, my husband and I turned to San Bernandino County to Foster/Adopt a child. The whole process was a life changing experience. While going through the process I seen many children come and go into the county offices. Seeing the uncertainty and worried faces of children waiting beside their foster parents for a monitored visitation from a birth parent made me realize how much these children needed to know that someone was going to care for them and keep them safe. I thought I was going through of tough time going through all the legal requirements to adopt. When, in fact, these children were enduring even greater hardships at such a young age. Learning about the situations these children were coming from was heart breaking and sometimes even harder to hear. I couldn't even imagine what it must be like to be in their shoes.
Out of these encounters and expeciences we were matched with our beautiful daughter who was six months at the time. She was being taken care of by her foster parents since birth. I am so grateful they met her needs and cared for her. Not only did her foster parents provide for her but also all the volunteers of San Bernandino County and organizations like Childrens Fund ensured she had a safe place to live and thrive. My daughter's strength, love and courage reminds me everyday of all the children in foster care who don't choose to be in these situations. They just want to feel and be loved like all children. I just want these children to know that they do matter and have a God given purpose in this world.
